DATA CENTERS
DATA CENTER: A building or portion of a building whose primary function is to house a computer room and its support areas.
The most expensive real estate per square foot of office space is the data center. To be sure you optimize use of this space, the ANSI/TIA-942 Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Data Centers was developed.
With this in mind, let CTG help you design and install your data center.
DATA CENTER DESIGN OVERVIEW
- It is essential that the design of the telecommunications cabling system, equipment floor plan, electrical plans, architectural plan, HVAC, security and lighting systems be coordinated.
- The relationship of data center spaces to other building spaces
- Tiers; the various levels of availability and security of the data center infrastructure.
DATA CENTER TELECOM SPACES AND TOPOLOGIES
- Data center structure: entrance room, main distribution area (MDA), horizontal distribution area (HDA), zone distribution area (ZDA) and equipment distribution area (EDA)
- Computer room; location, access and architectural design
- Environmental design; contaminants, HVAC, continuous and standby operation, batteries and vibration.
- Electrical design; power, standby power and bonding and grounding.
- Entrance room; location, access, entrance conduit routing and access & service provider spaces.
- MDA, HAD, ZDA and EDA; location and facility requirements.
- Telecommunicatons room; supports cabling to areas outside the computer room and should meet the specifications of ANSI/TIA-569-B.
- Racks and cabinets; should be arranged in an alternating pattern to create "hot" and "cold" aisles, equipment placement, placement relative to floor tile grid, clearances, ventilation, height & width, finishes and power strips.
